Following the events of Imperial, the entire Marvel cosmos was turned upside down by the Inhumans, who used a scheme that Maximus cooked up with the Eternal known as the Grandmaster to tear the current space alliances apart, and institute a new world order, one in which the Skrulls and the Kree went their separate ways, and the Inhumans took control of the Kree Empire.
Well, one of the other changes was that T'Challa took over control of the Wakandan Intergalactic Empire, but as we see in this CBR exclusive preview of Black Panther: Intergalactic #1, out next week, being in charge of the empire, and actually being able to take control of the empire are two very different things for a monarch trapped on another world.

THE INTERGALACTIC EMPEROR OF WAKANDA!
T’CHALLA, the King of Wakanda, faces the challenge of uniting all of his kingdom – on Earth and in the stars! Before he can begin, though, someone – or something – steals him away to a mysterious planet where the BLACK PANTHER must fight for his life! SHURI, his sister, works to find him – but with the king and princess distracted, will someone else seize the title of Emperor of Wakanda?!
32 PGS./Rated T+ …$4.99
In the preview pages, we see that T'Challa took the time to attend a funeral after the events of Imperial, and now he finds himself trapped far from the heart of the Wakandan empire due to the destruction of some of the warp gates most commonly used to get from galaxy to galaxy.
Black Panther is on a mysterious planet, being hunted by a giant snake. He realizes that he COULD kill it, but because he is a wise and heroic man, he instead decided to try to figure out WHY the giant snake is attacking him. Sure enough, he discovered a nest of little baby snake eggs, and made it clear that he meant no harm to the protective parent.
Meanwhile, back in the Empire, Shuri is having a problem with the former leader of the intergalactic empire, M'Baku, a longtime Black Panther adversary once known as the Man-Ape, who has since become a trusted ally (hence T'Challa appointing him the Regent of the Empire). During the Imperial war, a Skrull shapeshifter nearly murdered M;Baku.
Now, though, an injured M'Baku is increasingly paranoid, and has his own personal army at his side known as the Ebony Guard. He won't let Shuri come visit him until she proves that she isn't a Skrull. She eventually gets through, but obviously that plot is unresolved, just like we don't know how T'Challa will get home.
You'll just have to pick up a copy of Black Panther: Intergalactic #1, out next week, to find out!
