Jason is an award-winning journalist whose writing career dates back to when he developed the ability to use a crayon. He, most notably, worked previously as a "professional fan," as he likes to call it, at CinemaBlend, for which he wrote about anything and everything under the pop culture umbrella... especially Batman. His passion for the art of cinema began even earlier, stemming from repeat viewings of The Wizard of Oz.
This initially led him to pursue a career in filmmaking -- and even work briefly in the industry as an extra in the straight-to-video family film, Alice Upside Down -- before deciding that his talents would be better served discussing and showing appreciation for the various forms of entertainment he is passionate about.

2026 has essentially started to become the year of Supergirl as soon as it was announced that her new solo movie was hitting theaters on June 26. However, there is more to expect from Superman's cousin on the horizon.

This June, DC Comics is releasing a new anthology comic book starring the Maiden of Might titled Supergirl: The World. It is a collection of stories following the titular superhero, each of which comes from writers and artists originating from different countries.

The official synopsis for Supergirl: The World promises that the comic will serve as a celebration of many of the different cultures that exist on the planet that Kara Zor-El has called home since witnessing the destruction of Krypton.

Supergirl, the last daughter of Krypton, has found her adoptive world daunting at times, struggling to find her place in it. So what better way to learn about her new home than to travel the globe and discover its many wonders—and save some lives in the process, of course! Behold the Maiden of Might as 15 countries tell tales that highlight what makes Supergirl one of the most inspiring and powerful DC Super Heroes of all.

The graphic novel, which is being published in hardcover, sees Kara Zor-El travel to such countries as Germany, Spain, Finland, Serbia, and even the United States, among many others. Furthermore, comic book creators from each of these countries are representing their cultural origins by contributing to the anthology.

For instance, Joker: One Operation Joker writer Satoshi Miyagawa and artist Kai Kitago, known for his 2023 manga, Superman vs. Meshi, are representing Japan, while Mariana Moreno of Vampirella fame is serving as writer and illustrator for Supergirl's adventure in Mexico. Turkey's Mahmud Asrar, who has drawn for the likes of Batman & Robin and Conan the Barbarian, is also pulling double duty, and one of the most surprising names in the credits is acclaimed singer-songwriter Francesca Michielin, who teams up with artist Federica Croci to bring Kara to Italy.

Mariko Tamaki writes Supergirl's stateside adventure that features art by Skylar Patridge and Joëlle Jones, Uroš Dimitrijević and Stevan Subic. The story takes place in Serbia. Ejob Nathanael Ejob illustrates a tale set in Cameroon, by Njoka Suyru and Finland's Johanna Sinisalo, who collaborates with artist Rosi Kämpe. Writer Tomás Wortley and artist Rocío Zucchi bring the superhero to Argentina, Kid Toussaint and Joël Jurion take her to France, and Fernanda Chiella flies solo on a Brazilian adventure.

Supergirl: The World also features a story set in Poland by writer Anna Krztoń and artist Kasia Nie and the German creators of Off the Beaten Path, Yann Krehl and Marie Sann, team up once more for their contribution to the anthology. Gotham City Garage artist Aneke both writes and illustrates her segment set in Spain, as does Colombian creator Sara Rodriguez.

Supergirl: The World Is The Latest Of DC Comics' International Anthologies

Supergirl's upcoming, culturally diverse comic book is actually not a new endeavor for DC. The Kryptonian is joining a special club of iconic characters who have led their own anthologies featuring stories and artwork by creators from all around the world.

In 2021, the publisher released Batman: The World, which follows The Dark Knight on crusades in the likes of Russia and the Czech Republic. The anthology was the first of its kind and was later followed by 2024's Joker: The World, which Supergirl: The World writer Satoshi Miyagawa also contributed to.

Similar to how Joker: The World came out close to the release of Joker: Folie à Deux, Supergirl: The World will be released all across the globe — in collaboration with international publishers Panini, Ovni, Zebra Comics, Dargaud/Urban Comics, Story House, Story House Egmont Oy Ab, Čarobna Knjiga and JBC — in the same month as the highly anticipated DC movie, Supergirl. Milly Alcock stars in the title role of the DCU-canon event by director Craig Gillespie and adapted by Ana Nogueira from Tom King's acclaimed miniseries, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.

Supergirl: The World hits the shelves on June 2, 2026.
