Patrik Walker is an Emmy Award–winning writer who covers all things Comics & Superheroes. His work can also be found at the Dallas Cowboys, The Sporting News, and CBS Sports, among other outlets. One of the most respected names in his field, he is also a diehard enthusiast of all things comics, anime, gaming and movies — thriving in spaces where discussions involving those or similar topics reign supreme.

Wait, what? OK, let's take a moment to consider what is being witnessed here by DC Comics, and regarding its most popular superhero of all-time, the franchise's quarterback, the Boy In Blue known as Clark Kent a.k.a. Superman, because holy Moses, this can't be intentional.

Or, then again, maybe it is. The problem is that, in the latest round of solicits distributed by DC Comics for April 2026, there's no Superman to be found — anywhere within them. Shocking, indeed, though there's a chance this is a hardline play to deepen the impact of the events of DC K.O. that you have to see to believe.

Seriously, no spoilers here, so go do yourselves a favor and read it, because it is oh-so-worthy of being on everyone's pull list. What I will tell you is that the Son of El came out swinging, literally, after finding and strapping on the Dawnsday Knuckles to be able to compete with the likes of Wonder Woman's new armor and sword, and the list of other overpowered weapons being unleashed in the tournament by gods and metahumans alike in the fatalistic battle for supremacy as Darkseid attempts to form the New Apokolips.

It all begs the question of what's next for Superman? There's plenty going on, actually, even if that means hopping over to the Absolute Universe to dive into the brutality and ascension of Absolute Superman, but that's not all DC Comics has in the works for Kal-El, even if they did willfully keep him out of the April 2026 solicits.

What fans should prepare to dive into are deepened Superboy arcs this spring, for there are plenty of them. A quick glimpse at the gallery above reveals where DC Comics is looking to take Superboy in 2026, and with a wealth of familiar talent steering the covers and panels, no less.

Superman Is M.I.A., But Superboy Isn't

From Action Comics #1097, written by Mark Waid and drawn by artist Skylar Partridge, cover by Ryan Sook (available on April 8) to Superman #37, Joshua Williamson penning it as Dan Mora creates its art, and Cary Nord, Rachta Lin and Nick Robles all contributing with Mora to its cover (available on April 22) — each going on sale for $3.99 — there's plenty to be excited about when it comes to the last Son of Krypton and his variants.

A glimpse into Action Comics #1097, per the latest solicit: "The heroes of tomorrow have arrived in the past, and they need Superboy's help! But what can a young Clark Kent do that they can't? Find out as Smallville is turned upside down and the Reign of the Superboys continues!"

And here's one from Superman #37: "Superboy Prime gets a new real-life job with a new secret identity while he protects Metropolis from dangerous threats! But there is a whole DC Comics universe out there for him to explore, and the fanboy in him wants to see it all…Too bad there are heroes who don't trust him and think he should be locked up."

Additionally, there's Superman Unlimited #12, written by Dan Slott, art by Lucas Meyer and cover art by Taurin Clarke, Guillem March, Salvador Larroca and Karen Darboe (available on April 15), to keep the Superboy love going strong: "Little (super) boy lost! Tomorrow Man has a shocking surprise for Lois Lane. His name is Jon Kent, and he's just a little boy. The Reign of the Superboys continues! (And, possibly… the reign of a super… monkey?)".

So as the world waits to see what happens next with Superman and the conclusion of DC K.O., there is no reason to fret, because Absolute Superman and all things Superboy continue to whet the appetite for more, more, more.
