Coming in at 192 pages in total, Marvel Black & White: Barry Windsor-Smith's Weapon X will feature dozens of pages of archival-quality reprints of Windsor-Smith's original Weapon X storyline. The title will also offer a glimpse at historical commentary, giving readers an extra layer of detail and a more nuanced lens through which they can revisit Windsor-Smith's timeless classic.
Barry Windsor-Smith's Weapon X gave readers the closest look they had ever received of Logan's brutal transformation into a near-mindless killing machine at the hands of the Weapon X program. While the prologue and final chapter featured sequences told from Wolverine's point of view, the majority of the story was told from the perspectives of three members of the Weapon X program itself.
Rather than playing out like an otherwise ordinary Marvel Comics superhero story, Windsor-Smith's Weapon X was presented in the same vein as a 1980s slasher film. Throughout the course of the story, Logan's grotesque transformation and the experiments conducted on him are showcased in gruesome detail, all while the likes of Carol Hines, Doctor Abraham Cornelius, and the enigmatic Professor are stalked through the halls of a sprawling facility by an utterly unstoppable killer.
Marvel Black & White: Barry Windsor-Smith's Weapon X from Dark Horse Books goes on sale on Nov. 24.
