Realmguard #1 was released on July 1 and introduced readers to an entirely new vision of the Marvel Universe. This high fantasy-inspired world is replete with all manner of iconic Marvel Comics characters, albeit ones unlike the versions of themselves that fans know best. Apart from the Black Cat, the world of Realmguard is inhabited by the likes of Prince Rogers, the Iron Mechanist, and the Silk-Tongued Spider and Lady Jackpot, the latter two of whom find themselves swept up in a story neither could have possibly imagined.

Writer Preeti Chhibber previously opened up about Peach Momoko's redesigns of so many beloved characters, as well as the ways those designs played directly into the story at hand. "Peach’s designs helped hone the voice of some of the characters," Chhibber explained. "And there was this surprising line of whimsy to some of the sketches that unlocked some of the potential tone in my head."

Chhibber also discussed artist Lorenzo Tammetta's work on the series, stating, "Oh my goodness, I cannot say enough what a wonderful experience it was opening my email and seeing Lorenzo's art come in. Every character was clearly drawn with such care and really thinking about what they would be like in this universe. I sent one panel of the same character I referenced above with just a note, 'am obsessed with [character].'" Chhibber added, "Lorenzo just gets the energy a project like this needs."

The official solicit synopsis for Realmguard #1 from Marvel Comics reads, "In the kingdom of Kironia, a high-fantasy version of the Marvel Universe, traveling bards known as the Silk-Tongued Spider (Peter Parker) and Lady Jackpot (Mary Jane) find themselves separated and caught in a plot involving a burned village, a missing prince, and a false king! In this web of lies and conflict, will Peter and Mary Jane be able to find each other again?"

Realmguard #1 from Marvel Comics is available now exclusively via Marvel Unlimited.
