Red Sonja and Vampirella Confirmed For Official Comebacks In All-New Series

Red Sonja and Vampirella fans are in for an action-packed summer. Dynamite Entertainment has announced new specials starring the characters, and they’re releasing soon.

New story details and artwork revealed by Comics Beat for Red Sonja Noir: The Plunder & The Princess and Vampirella Summer Special 2026 tease a detective adventure for the sword and sorcery legend, while the vampire superhero will be going on her own time-traveling journey. The Red Sonja story does not have an exact release date announced at this time, but Vampirella’s Summer Special will be hitting comic book shops in July, following Christopher Priest and Lucio Parrillo’s relaunch of the title later this month on April 22. Red Sonja’s latest run, helmed by Rory McConville and Pablo de Bonis will begin on May 6.

New Red Sonja & Vampirella Adventures Announced for Summer 2026

Dynamite’s solicit for Red Sonja’s story teases a wedding gone wrong. “In her latest tale, Red Sonja travels to an exclusive wedding on the island of Zaralina, an enclave for the rich and wealthy merchant class. She’s not a mere guest, but has been hired for her prowess in protection. Events take a harrowing turn for the dark and nefarious when an army of masked bandits, a powerful wizard, and a massive fearsome dragon crash the reception!”

As for Vampirella, she’ll be finding herself transported to the past and quickly finding trouble. “Even immortal vampires (or is she an alien? both!) need a little bit of time off for rest and relaxation. Diehard fans know, too, that Drakulonians do not share the weakness to sunlight that traditional undead vampires do, so she’s totally clear to hit the beach. But despite being shore-compatible, other parts of Vampirella’s life inevitably lead to complications in even the best planned vacation getaways!”

The Vampirella solicit continues: “Suddenly in ‘Rising from the Ashes’ the raven-haired, sharp-toothed antiheroine finds herself a whopping 2,000 years in the past. Immediately up to her eyes in drama – instead of the surf she was relishing – it’ll only get even crazier when the nearby volcano starts rumbling and is certainly not dormant. Vampi was looking for an island getaway, and she’s getting more than she bargained for!”

There’s plenty more Red Sonja and Vampirella stories to come, with one new title even seeing the two characters cross paths. Altered States: Warlords, a new series written by David Avallone with art by Mariano Benitez-Chapo will be released on June 10 and is Dynamite’s answer to DC’s Elseworlds and Marvel’s What If. “Our debut Altered States title starts with Red Sonja, the She-Devil of Hyrkania, finding herself transported to Barsoom - better known to Earth-readers as Mars - in the ancient past of the mysterious red planet,” Dynamite’s teaser reveals.

As Sonja acquaints herself with the mysterious new parallel reality, she comes across several legendary heroes, including none other than Vampirella. “What happens there sets up events that will ripple across the planet and will draw in the legendary heroes Vampirella, John Carter, Dejah Thoris, and, direct from Earth, the Lord of the Jungle himself!”

Vampirella Summer Special will go on sale in July. Red Sonja Noir: The Plunder & The Princess does not have a release date at this time.
