Rise of Amelia: Gamers Turn UK Gov’s ‘Extremist’ Game Into a Meme

2 weeks ago 13

The United States is not the only country dealing with a raging culture war. I wrote about Australia’s censorship by their far-left government, and Britain has their own issues.  Following a summer where patriots hung the St. Georges Cross all over their nation in defiance of their government’s immigration policy, the U.K. government produced a videogame called Pathways: Navigating the Internet and Extremism to combat the supposed extremism.

Pathways: Navigating the Internet and Extremism allows you to choose between a male and a female, both white, who are in college (high school) as they navigate a series of encounters that could lead them to extremism. For example, the player is given a choice to view a questionable video that is going viral through their peers or tell their parents. The good choice of telling your parents is graded on a bar in green.

Later in class, the player is given a worse grade on their paper than they expected, while another student, who is brown, gets a better grade and a job offer. Then, a classmate named Amelia gives the player a nudge and espouses the fact that immigrants were taking jobs from the British.

And these type of interactions continue as the player can either choose to visit social media sites and watch ‘subversive’ videos speaking about this subject or get help from their teacher or parents. In that order. The U.K. government thought it was a good idea to denigrate their military when one such video explaining how Muslim men were stealing the place of British war veterans was portrayed as negative and extremist.

Throughout the players’ interactions, Amelia is in the background urging the player to get involved and defend British rights.

She’s Pure Evil!

At the end of the game, the player can join a pro-British protest where they feel the euphoria of being around like-minded individuals but are scared into silence when they are profiled by police. Pathways: Navigating the Internet and Extremism has a series of endings, one where the player is sent to an authoritarian re-education camp and taught to tow the party line.

Many patriotic U.K. citizens called Pathways: Navigating the Internet and Extremism nothing more than government-sponsored anti-British propaganda, but things turned when gamers got involved. In the following weeks, gamers have turned Amelia into their latest waifu, and the  British right wing have adopted Amelia as a mascot for their movement. Memes of Amelia have sprung up across the internet with an AI video of an anti-immigration and proud British Amelia going viral.

Amelia is right A.I. Full Pathways parody

Leaflit Clips has even made an Anime trailer called Amelia: The Last Rose of Albion in honor of this new mascot.

The prompts were simple.

First, I told ⁦@grok⁩ to look at every single Amelia meme on the Internet.

Second, I said: “Become Amelia, then make a video and tell the British people what you want them to know.”

Here’s the surprising result. pic.twitter.com/dGY0OvKcQ4

It’s unsure whether the U.K. government pulled the game or whether the servers were down due to the interest, but for a moment Pathways: Navigating the Internet and Extremism was inaccessible the the public but was available  to play as of this writing.

This is a classic example of a government being out of touch with their people. There is nothing wrong, or racist, with people attempting to preserve their culture against those who do not share their values. The British have been fighting this battle for centuries against various invaders that have tried to impress their values on their people and have triumphed every time.

Now their present battle against the ‘mythical’ great replacement has a new face in Amelia and the U.K. government is fuming.
