Few superheroes carry the same emotional history as Spider-Man. For many of us, he was one of the first heroes we discovered through comic books, animated series, films, video games or simply seeing that unmistakable red and blue suit swinging across a screen. Spider-Man has always had a way of making us feel like we could be heroic too, even when life was messy, lonely or completely unfair. Spider-Man: Brand New Day understands that connection. From its opening moments, the film feels like a celebration of everything that has made Spider-Man such an enduring and beloved character. It’s nostalgic without relying entirely on nostalgia, emotional without losing its sense of fun, and packed with the kind of street-level action many fans have been waiting to see from Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. While some of its wider creative decisions may prove divisive, particularly for longtime Marvel Comics readers like me, Brand New Day remains a thoroughly enjoyable Spider-Man film with spectacular action, beautiful cinematography, strong performances and one of Holland’s most emotionally compelling portrayals of Peter Parker yet.
