Marvel and DC Comics have finally unveiled their next big crossover for 2026, and it is perfect for the 50th anniversary of the original.
Per a press release from DC and Marvel Comics, fans have finally gotten their first look at the next big comic book crossover title — Superman/Spider-Man #1. Set to be released on March 25, 2026, the new one-shot anthology will feature multiple stories from all-star creative teams, including an opening tale featuring its eponymous duo by none other than Mark Waid and Jorge Jiménez. Among the other stories on offer in Superman/Spider-Man #1 are a tale featuring Lois Lane and Mary Jane Watson (by Tom King and Jim Lee), a horrifying encounter between Carnage and Jimmy Olsen (by Matt Fraction and Steve Lieber), a battle between Superboy of the Legion of Superheroes and Spider-Man 2099 (by writer-artist Sean Murphy), and a look at what happens when Power Girl and the Punisher cross paths (by Gail Simone and Belén Ortega).
Readers can also look forward to Superboy Prime chasing down and catching up with Spider-Man (in a story by Christopher Priest and Daniel Sampere), an exciting race between the staffs of the Daily Planet and Daily Bugle (as told by Greg Rucka and Nicola Scott), and an unexpected encounter between Pa Kent and Peter Parker's Uncle Ben (courtesy of Jeff Lemire and Rafa Sandoval).
Superman/Spider-Man #1 not only follows up on the new crossover anthology format that began with Deadpool/Batman #1 last year and continued in the pages of Batman/Deadpool #1, but it also marks the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the very first DC/Marvel Comics crossover. Specifically, that of Superman vs The Amazing Spider-Man: The Battle of the Century, which was originally published back in March of 1976 and still stands as the very first time that characters from each respective publisher made their way into each other's world.

Since his first appearance in 1962, Spider-Man has almost always been Marvel Comics' most popular character. Known for his sense of humor and bad luck as well as his selflessness and super-strength, Spider-Man has helmed countless titles over the years, Spider-Man's most prominent comics include The Amazing Spider-Man, Web of Spider-Man, and Peter Parker, The Spectacular Spider-Man.
Peter Parker was the original Spider-Man but the Spider-Verse has become an important part of the character's lore in recent years. Multiversal and future Spider-Men include Miles Morales, Spider-Gwen, Miguel O'Hara and Peter Porker, the Spectacular Spider-Ham. This provided the premise for the popular Spider-Verse film trilogy, which makes Miles its primary hero.
