X-Force #17-20 (2009): Leper Queen dies; Doug Ramsey and Destiny resurrected

16 hours ago 2

This story starts with X-23 returning from the last, time-travel mission just in time to shoot Leper Queen.

Thus ending the cliffhanger from several issues back, where the Queen was about to kill Boom Boom when the X-Force were sent forward in time. But right after killing Leper Queen, HAMMER agents show up to arrest Boom Boom and X-23…But Warpath is also there, and he kills some of the agents. He saves Tabitha, but X-23 is captured and taken to “The Facility,” where she is tortured by an old friend…Kimura.

Agent Morales helps X-23 get free after her arm is cut off with a chainsaw by Kimura, and X-23 then slashes her way through everyone at the facility.

While that’s going on, nearby at the United Nations Bolivar Trask and Steven Lang (both resurrected and controlled by Bastion) announce a new Sentinels initiative. The Sapien League (terrorists formerly led by Leper Queen) have infected Hellion and Surge and release them nearby–with the goal of fomenting fear to support the initiative. Wolverine and Angel manage to save Hellion from losing control of powers due to Legacy Virus infection, but can’t save Surge–she explodes, then passes out.

Once the mutants are safe, Wolverine heads out to find X-23.

The cover to the final issue of this arc makes it look like Logan arrives in time to join X-23 in her “kill everyone” feral moment, but he actually shows up after its all over.

Meanwhile, Caliban, Eli Bard and Wither use the T/O Virus to resurrect Doug Ramsey.

Note in the background that Kyle Yost appears on a tombstone. Also note that Caliban is licking the tombstone, which is gross.

They also resurrect another long-dead mutant…

Destiny.

Also during this tale, Rahne and Hrimhari are attacked by Frost Giants. They kill them, but Rahne is critically injured. Warpath and Angel take her to see Elixir, who is in a coma after curing Hellion of the Legacy Virus.

The story ends with Cipher being summoned by an unseen figure and told that “it’s time,” while we see a Necrosha teaser.
