YouTube has clarified how its monetization rules apply to graphic gaming violence, giving creators a clearer path to ad revenue months before GTA 6 launches. Under the updated advertiser-friendly guidelines, videos may remain eligible for ads when graphic gameplay appears between eight and 15 seconds after the video begins. Graphic violence shown during the first seven seconds remains ineligible for monetization, according to reporting from Quasa. YouTube now places graphic gaming scenes shown after the seven-second mark in its standard ad-eligible category. Blurred or obscured violence, including a concealed beheading, may also qualify for advertising. The platform defines graphic gaming violence as brutal killings or severe injuries that focus on blood, bodily fluids or body parts. Examples include beheadings and dismemberment. Less extreme gameplay is still generally acceptable to advertisers. That includes mild violence, limited blood and unrealistic action. Videos made mainly to shock viewers can still lose all ad revenue, especially compilations showing players slaughtering groups of non-playable characters.
