Amazing Spider-Man v1 #1, 1963 - After a wildly successful premiere in Amazing Fantasy #15, this
begins the hero's first series. Peter Parker, desperate for money, tries to cash in on his new super-hero persona. Steve Ditko uses an opening splash and two large panel chapter headings to balance out the numerous smaller panels. This Stan Lee story was later reprinted in Amazing Spider-Man Annual #2. In the second tale, Spider-Man attempts to join the Fantastic Four but is rebuffed. Upon hearing the news, the identity-changing
Chameleonplots to frame the young hero. On the cover, Jack Kirby (with Ditko inking) captures the Marvel heroes' first point of contact.
