Cleveland Emerges as Potential Filming Hub for "Man of Tomorrow"

DC Studios and Warner Bros. Pictures have taken an early step toward bringing the highly anticipated sequel to their critically acclaimed Superman reboot to Ohio, with official filings suggesting Cleveland could once again serve as a key production location.
An application submitted to the Ohio Motion Picture Tax Credit program lists a new feature titled "Exodus" under the state's film incentive database. While the title remains a working name, multiple elements of the application - including production contact details and naming conventions - indicate a strong link to "Man of Tomorrow", the follow-up to the 2025 box-office success directed by James Gunn.
The Ohio Motion Picture Tax Credit offers eligible productions a 30% refundable tax credit on qualified expenditures in the state, a fiscal incentive that has attracted numerous high-profile film and television projects. Should the application be approved, it could position Ohio - and Cleveland specifically - as a hub for major summer production activity beginning in 2026.
While "Man of Tomorrow" is scheduled to begin principal photography in April 2026 and currently has planned production activity in Atlanta, the Ohio tax credit filing underscores Cleveland's continued appeal as a filming destination. It is important to note that final shooting decisions and location confirmations remain subject to approval of the tax credit and subsequent production greenlighting by DC Studios and Warner Bros. Pictures.
Cleveland previously played a pivotal role in the production of the 2025 "Superman" feature, serving as the stand-in for Metropolis for several weeks of principal photography. Local landmarks, including downtown streets and architectural icons, were transformed into the fictional city and contributed to the film's visual worldbuilding and blockbuster success.
"Man of Tomorrow" is slated for release on July 9, 2027, and is shaping up to explore a complex narrative involving both Superman and Lex Luthor confronting an existential threat, rumored to involve the iconic DC villain Brainiac.
