“The Nomad”

A stranger has come to the gates of Tarantia seeking council with the King of Aquilonia. Yet, the Black Dragons – the ordained defenders of the city, bar his entrance as they would any common vagrant. There would be no audience with Conan or his royal vassals that day.

So the Nomad sat in meditation, hindering the path of those traversing the great citadel. If the Lion of Aquilonia required deeds of notoriety to gain an audience with the throne, well, the stranger had all the time in the world. For several days the traveler remained unmoved, facing the main entrance and its tenacious guards. There would be no food, no drink, nor signs of movement from the vagabond. Then word came. Conan the King was ready to survey this mystery cloaked in rags and hooded veneer.

“The Nemedian Chronicles And The Legend Of Conan The Cimmerian”

The legacy of Conan and his life abroad has many twists and turns. From his youth, to a life of piracy, savage mercenary, monster slayer, and even king of Aquilonia. Robert E Howard wrote of the Cimmerian, not in a linear storytelling format, but rather as a collection of myths and legends told by scholars far removed from the Hyborian Age – of at least in the zenith of such times. Jeffrey Shanks brings forth this exposé on Howard and the genius of his compressed world building. This is a must-read for any fan trying to chronicle the events of Conan the Barbarian.

“Behind The Blood”

Jim Zub presents a two-page gallery of original pencil art used for the comic book.  Alex Horley is an amazing artist. Check out the raw panels before the oil paint is applied!

“Astonishing Exchanges”

Alex Horley takes time out for a two-page interview on his experience with Robert E Howard and the world of Conan the Barbarian.
