DAREDEVIL #208-209 (1984)

I’m a big fan of “death trap” scenarios, so these issues–fill-ins written by Harlan Ellison and Arthur Bryon Cover–totally do it for me.

daredevil 208

A little “girl” (actually a robot) asks Daredevil for help, but leads him to an abandoned mansion full of high-tech security.

Continuity-wise, they mean nothing–although it’s notable that David Mazzucchelli still does the art.

It’s just a wild romp through a series of pits, blades and other traps.

Well worth your time if you can find them, especially #208; it can be a stand-alone issue.  #209 is just written by Cover and it explains why DD was in the shit in #208, but it’s nonessential.  The real fun is in #208.

At the end of his big night in the death house, he goes to Black Widow to help tend his wounds.

In my opinion, issue #208 is one of the 100 best single-issue stories of all time. See my full list here. And this story is in the top 10 Daredevil stories of all time.
