It seems hard to believe, but YouTuber Eric July’s Rippaverse has only been around for just over two years and has already expanded far past the original goal of becoming a viable comic company. We’ve already witnessed the success of the series launch of Isom, which cracked a million in sales in a week.
As expected, sales have settled down since then, but the comics still sell in the thousands as the Rippaverse continues to expand with new comic series written by a growing list of legendary comic creators.

This success has allowed Eric July to collaborate with McFarlane Toys to create figures and high-end statues of his characters. We also reported about the Rippaverse expanding with Rippasend, which has become their publishing, distribution and fulfillment arm.
This addition to their business model has allowed them to team with Angel Studios, and has incorporated other indie comics success with YouTuber YellowFlash’s Mighty Golden Patriot, and fulfilling popular YouTuber’s Nerdrotic’s successful memoir, Waiting for Nerdrotic.

Now Eric July has introduced the next phase of the Rippaverse with RippaWorks, their expansion into animation. The Rippaverse has already dabbled with animated shorts to promote their comics before with great success, and now they seek to make this addition permanent.
Here is how the Rippaverse explains their Animation Fund and goals:
Our first RippaWorks campaign, the Rippaverse Studios Animation Fund, is designed to help us nail down our animation style and solidify our team for consistent, high-quality production going forward.
The campaign features two main funding goals:
Goal #1 ($50,000): Ten short animated clips based on Isom, Yaira, and Bloodruth.
Goal #2 ($100,000): A fully animated, high-action trailer based on RippaZine #6 and its soon-to-be-announced series.
RippaWorks is a crowd-sourced effort and contributors are offered very intriguing rewards for their support. High-end supporters receive everything from exclusive cards and comics, to being canonized in the actual animated works.

And in usual Eric July fashion, their stretch goals look far beyond their stated main goals.

Eric July is one of the few independent comic creators that understands the saying politics are downstream from culture. Instead of wasting time on social media conflicts and in-fighting, he continues to keep the Rippaverse sailing forward into new profitable ventures.
As much as the right seems to think they have won something and have time to attack each other, everything in entertainment and culture is still controlled and led by the left from comic books, videogames, to animation, board games, and movies. Things will only get worse if Netflix is allowed to purchase the Warner Brothers catalog where they will continue to push their political message.
To have any influence on the next generation, we need more endeavors like RippaWorks to provide an alternative.
