“A King Comes Riding!”
A seditious plot begins to unfold inside the backrooms of the royal palace. As King Kull debates his own Councilor Tu from the Topaz Throne, a group of Valusian saboteurs lay plans to assassinate him. But, for what purpose?
These very same men had manipulated Kull into slaying King Borna. A political maneuver that was to usher Baron Kaanuub into the role. Kull had other ideas. In the heat of battle, the Atlantean snatched the bloody crown from the floor of the throne room and declared himself king. “By this axe I rule.” The question was for how long.
Will King Kull attend the Feast of the Rising Moon without his Red Slayers? Why does Councilor Tu continuously undermine his own King? Who is the Pictish warrior with the obsidian spear? Collect the series to find out!
Review
From the mind of Robert E Howard, to the pages of Marvel Comics, writer Roy Thomas delivers the fascinating origins of Kull from Atlantis. As the predecessor of Conan, Kull would seek his fame and fortune 80,000 years before the Cimmerian was ever born. This series is a must-read for any fans of Robert E Howard or his characters. I give this debut issue four out of five stars.
