MARCO SPEAKS SPIDEY: All-New Spider-Gwen: The Ghost-Spider #7 (2026) – Review

4 days ago 11

It’s genuinely nice to see Gwen Stacy finally settling into her new home — her new universe — the mainstream Marvel Universe. With each issue, it feels like she’s slowly but surely putting roots down. Her relationship with her dad has improved in a huge way now that he knows who she really is and what she does. He’s still adjusting, still worried, but he’s becoming more accepting of her heroics, and that means a lot for Gwen. On top of that, she has a new band that’s actually doing well, and she’s trying — really trying — to move on from her dark and painful recent past.

This current volume feels like it’s laying the groundwork for something bigger. It’s setting Gwen up for greater things in the near future, even if we’re not quite there yet. Her place in the larger Marvel Universe still feels like it’s being defined, but there’s something exciting about watching that process unfold. You can sense that the pieces are being moved into position.

PROS

Gwen vs. her past — the darkness still lingers

Right from the opening pages, you can tell Gwen is doing everything she can to start this new chapter on a positive note. She wants to be happy. She wants stability. She wants peace. But no matter how hard she tries, there’s a lingering darkness that refuses to let her go.

That shadow of her past hangs over her constantly. It’s subtle, but it’s there — in her thoughts, her reactions, her hesitation. This issue does a solid job showing that healing isn’t instant. Moving forward doesn’t mean forgetting. Gwen is still haunted, and that internal struggle gives her character depth.

Gwen and Fabian — finally official

The biggest and most satisfying development in this issue is Gwen’s romance with Fabian finally becoming official. We’ve been dancing around it for a while now, and it was great to see it finally move forward.

Their dinner date is sweet, awkward, and very them. They try to do the fancy, expensive restaurant thing — and immediately realize it’s not their vibe at all. Instead, they go somewhere more casual, relax, and just hang out. That grounded shift makes the moment feel real and genuine.

And Fabian’s “proposal” is honestly perfect. No grand speech. No over-the-top theatrics. Just honesty. He tells Gwen he doesn’t want to be “just a friend” — he wants to be her boyfriend. Simple, heartfelt, and effective.

At least in this part of Gwen’s life, there’s now certainty. No more will-they-won’t-they. Gwen and Fabian are officially together, and that feels like real progress.

Action with emotional stakes — Gwen’s dad in danger

The action in this issue hits hard because it’s personal. Gwen’s dad finds himself at a fundraiser that’s suddenly taken over by violent criminals who are willing to kill to get what they want. Without hesitation, he calls Gwen for help — and that moment alone shows how far their relationship has come.

Gwen and Fabian arrive together, giving us a fun and effective team-up against the criminals. There’s humor mixed into the tension, especially when Gwen’s dad nearly blurts out her name in public. He’s still adjusting to the whole “my daughter is Spider-Gwen” reality, and those slips add some lightness to the scene.

No killing — Gwen draws the line

One of the strongest character moments comes during the fight when Gwen makes it clear that no one dies — not even the villains. She’s firm about it. She refuses to cross that line.

So when she dives to save a falling criminal, only to hear that horrifying snap, the moment hits hard. Instantly, it calls back to the death of the original Gwen Stacy. It’s a chilling parallel that works on both a narrative and emotional level, reminding us — and Gwen — that some trauma never fully disappears.

Mysterio enters the picture

The final reveal that Mysterio has been watching everything from the shadows is a great tease. It immediately raises the stakes and sets up the next arc nicely. You can feel that something twisted and theatrical is coming — exactly the kind of chaos Mysterio thrives on.

It’s a strong hook, and it definitely makes me curious to see what kind of madness Gwen will be dealing with next.

CONS

Where is this volume heading?

While there is clear character growth here, I can understand why some readers might still feel unsure about where this series is going. The story continues to revolve around familiar beats — romance, dad dynamics, band life — and while those elements are well executed, some readers may be waiting for Gwen to fully step into the spotlight as an A-list hero.

There’s a sense that she’s circling the runway rather than fully taking off just yet.

FINAL GRADE: B

Conclusion

All-New Spider-Gwen: The Ghost-Spider #7 is a solid, character-driven issue that continues Gwen’s journey of rebuilding her life in a new universe. I’m still very much on board, and I genuinely want to see how Gwen carves out her place on this Earth. The writing and art have been strong enough to keep me invested — now it’s just a matter of seeing how all of this builds toward something truly defining.

There’s potential here. A lot of it. And if this series sticks the landing, Gwen Stacy could emerge not just as a visitor from another universe — but as a hero who truly belongs here.
