This article contains spoilers for Uncanny X-Men (2024) #29, available now from Marvel Comics.
Gail Simone's Uncanny X-Men run just dropped a major bombshell about the iconic mutant Rogue. The most recent issue just revealed the one hero that she considers to be her sister.
In the pages of Uncanny X-Men #29, which just dropped on June 3, chaos begins to unfold as Haven House has a powerful and unexpected set of house guests, and a death at Graymalkin Prison unleashes the unthinkable for both the guards and inmates. It all culminates in the arrival of the powerhouse Generation X mutant Monet, who teams up with Rogue to restore some order. As the two punch their way through some familiar mutant faces, Rogue monologues about how much Monet means to her.
Rogue Reveals Her Spiritual Sister in New Uncanny X-Men Issue

For Rogue, her connection with Monet extends beyond having mighty strength or flight — the two also share a similar approach to conflict. "We couldn't just tear this place down. We both knew it," she says. "They were gonna franchise mutant prisons. Like a chain of hotels or burger joints. We needed evidence, an' bless her lion's heart, Monet volunteered."
Another legendary mutant was also confirmed to be helping Rogue and Monet communicate. "Fortunately, we had a special delivery system back n' forth," Rogue revealed. "Quicksilver Messenger Service, ya know."
The fact that Rogue considers Monet to be like a sister isn't all that shocking, especially considering how many similarities their pasts share. In addition to power sets that include flight and invulnerability, both Rogue and Monet have trauma stemming from their respective backgrounds: Rogue has notably absorbed the powers and psyche of Carol Danvers, while Monet's history with her brother has left her trapped in the mute, painful Penance form.
Still, the two characters have pretty contrasting personalities. Rogue is known and loved by X-Men fans for her no-nonsense Southern charm, which is on clear display in Uncanny X-Men #29. Monet, on the other hand, is typically depicted as more intellectual and even elitist at times. The fact that the two characters have been working together certainly sets the series up for even more big reveals in the months to come.

Issue #30, on sale June 17, sees widespread panic breaking out in Louisiana as it becomes Ground Zero for an alien invasion force.
The alien storyline is set to continue for several more issues, with cover art for Uncanny X-Men #31 even teasing that Rogue will become directly involved in the conflict, as she is seen seemingly unconscious and in the arms of one of the alien invaders. Her fate doesn't appear to be too promising either; in the cover art for issue #32, Rogue appears to be possessed, with the solicit teasing that the "Exterminators" are here. The Uncanny X-Men might just need some help from Monet and others to turn the tide back in their favor.
Uncanny X-Men #29 is on sale now from Marvel Comics.
