Marvel doesn't appear to be done with the Ultimate Universe just yet. Ultimate Endgame has been promoted as bringing this current iteration of the Ultimate Universe to an Earth-shattering conclusion, much to the surprise of fans. Marvel has insisted that it really is ending the Ultimate Universe, but a new announcement points to an Ultimate rebirth.

May will see the release of Reborn: Ultimate Impact. Marvel didn't provide much information regarding the comic, including whether it's a one-shot or a miniseries. However, it does indicate some type of evolution for the Ultimate line in Marvel's main continuity. A full announcement is expected later this week.

"THE END OF THE ULTIMATE UNIVERSE IS HERE, BUT ITS LEGACY WILL LIVE ON...," the press release reads. "As the Ultimate Universe ends, May's REBORN: ULTIMATE IMPACT reveals how the Ultimate Universe’s legacy will reverberate across the Marvel Universe."

The announcement teaser image features the Reborn: Ultimate Impact logo on a white background, with black lines taking up the background. The lines could represent bare terrain, or they may have an even greater meaning. We're only a week away from the release of Ultimate Endgame #2, where more answers may be revealed.

Marvel Revives the Ultimate Universe to Critical Success

Marvel's new Ultimate Universe was kickstarted in 2023 with the release of Ultimate Invasion by writer Jonathan Hickman and artist Bryan Hitch. The four-issue limited series laid the groundwork for a new wave of Ultimate titles, which included Ultimate Spider-Man, The Ultimates, Ultimate Black Panther and Ultimate X-Men.

Ultimate Wolverine would join the roster a year later, with the first official Ultimate crossing taking place in Ultimate Spider-Man: Incursion, with Miles Morales traveling to the Ultimate Universe to rescue his baby sister. The conclusion of the crossover found origin boxes making their way to Earth-616. These boxes granted heroes like Spider-Man their powers.

Ultimate Spider-Man was the breakout success of the new Ultimate Universe. Written by Jonathan Hickman with art by Marco Checchetto and David Messina, Ultimate Spider-Man featured Peter Parker becoming Spider-Man as a married father of two kids. Another major change is that Green Goblin (Harry Osborn) is an ally instead of a nemesis.

Ultimate Endgame Is the Swan Song for the Ultimate Universe

Ultimate Endgame features the return of The Maker, who has been imprisoned inside The City for the last two years. The Maker is the creator of the Ultimate Universe, twisting its history to create a world without heroes and his evil council ruling over it. The Ultimates, led by Iron Lad (Tony Stark), have created a resistance to fight back.

"I'm excited to bring these stories some resolution with the freedom that's only possible in the Ultimate Universe; I'm excited that I get to let each story develop naturally, according to what the stories and characters need," said Ultimate Endgame writer Deniz Camp.

"We want to pack every page with the beautiful, the tragic, the funny, the astonishing, the devastatingly quiet, and the bombastically loud."

Stay tuned for more information regarding Reborn: Ultimate Impact later this week.
