What Can Fans Expect From Transformers #31?
Image via SkyboundThe official solicit synopsis for Transformers #31 from Skybound Entertainment and Image Comics reads, "the secret of Megatron revealed! Megatron has a vision that will change the course of his life… and no one in the Energon Universe is safe."
Skybound Entertainment Executive Editor Ben Abernathy teased some expectations for Transformers #31. "Megatron is one of the greatest villains in modern entertainment history, and this issue will be groundbreaking for the Energon Universe," he said.
The Transformers series from Skybound Entertainment and Image Comics is just one of the major tentpoles of the publishers' Energon Universe. Beginning in the pages of Void Rivals #1 (by Robert Kirkman, Lorenzo De Felici, Mat Lopes, and Rus Wooton) back in 2023, the Energon Universe line has since come to include not just Void Rivals, but both the Transformers and G.I. Joe lines of comics, as well.
The Energon Universe went through one of its biggest shakeups yet with the release of Transformers #25, which closed out a sprawling storyline while also setting up the next era of storytelling for the line. Among the most shocking moments on display in the issue was the Autobots' fearless leader, Optimus Prime, being impaled by his Decepticon foes, only for the hero to continue soldiering on and completely turn the tide of battle.
2026 has seen plenty of major developments of its own in the Energon Universe, despite only being a few weeks into the year. Earlier this month, G.I. Joe #19 saw the eponymous organization's very own Duke cross paths with Optimus Prime for the first time, paving the way for bigger and bolder things to come than ever before, while also opening the door for the likes of Cobra and the Decepticons to eventually join forces against the heroes.
Transformers #31 from Skybound Entertainment and Image Comics goes on sale starting April 8.
