Supernatural Confirms Major Sam, Dean, and Castiel Reunion for New Series

Dynamite Entertainment is about to reunite Supernatural's most popular trio for an epic new adventure.

The next entry in the Supernatural franchise has officially arrived in the form of the Supernatural Special: Castiel #1 from Dynamite Entertainment, and it is everything that fans have been asking for. This upcoming one-shot, written by Preeti Chhibber and illustrated by Pasquale Qualano, will not only see Castiel finally make his way into the world of comics, but also follow in the Winchesters' literal footsteps as they embark upon their latest monster hunt.

The official solicit synopsis for Supernatural Special: Castiel #1 from Dynamite Entertainment reads, "Fan-favorite Supernatural character Castiel makes his comics debut! Castiel has always been sure. Of his faith. Of his duty. Of his position. Always. So why is he suddenly having doubts? The only thing he knows is that it has something to do with the Winchesters."

The solicit text continues, "He's followed them to Gainesville, FL, on a chaotic weekend when music and sports fans have descended on the city. And wherever Castiel goes, the Winchesters are one step ahead of him, hunting for the monsters that have been reported in the vicinity. Whether it’s at a concert, a frat party, or wherever — by the time Castiel follows the trail there, the Winchesters have come and gone. Until they find the thing they're all looking for… together. But will Castiel help the brothers in their mission, or just get in the way?"

The Supernatural Special: Castiel one-shot is just the latest in an ever-expanding number of Supernatural comics published by Dynamite Entertainment in the past year. While DC Comics previously published its own Supernatural series back in 2012, Dynamite Entertainment has published its ongoing series since 2025, much to the delight of fans.

Supernatural Lives On In The Form of Comic Books

Dynamite Entertainment's Supernatural series, written by Greg Pak, has brought readers back to one of the most iconic eras from the original The CW show. Picking up with Sam and Dean Winchester early on in their television career, the Supernatural comics have a near-endless number of possibilities when it comes to what territory is available for exploration. So far, the comics have seen Sam and Dean take on all manner of monstrous threats, ranging from ghoulish undead cowboys to the Winchesters' own beloved car, Baby, the latter of which was momentarily possessed at the time.

Supernatural writer Greg Pak previously touched on what fans can expect from the series, "We're setting our stories basically near the end of the first season, when it was really a monster-of-the-week show with these guys on the road, and every episode is a self-contained story with new locations, new characters, and a new monster."

Supernatural Special: Castiel #1 from Dynamite Entertainment goes on sale on June 10.
