Marvel's latest Ultimate Universe is about to come to a close, as the villainous Maker (the evil alternate reality version of Reed Richards who created the Earth in Marvel's Ultimate Universe as one without superheroes, but after Howard Stark trapped him for two years in a mysterious Dome, Tony Stark has repopulated the world with heroes ahead of the Maker's return to help fight for the fate of Earth) has officially been released from captivity, but as we saw in Ultimate Endgame #1, things aren't quite as they seem.

In the preview pages, Immortus details the history of his battles with The Maker over the centuries, as well over a THOUSAND years have passed in The City underneath The Dome in the two years since Immortus (back when he was Howard Stark) trapped The Maker under the Dome.
The important thing, though, is that the story of their battles doesn't actually follow a linear path, as Immortus explains that time doesn't work that way under the Dome. Here, everything is experienced sort of at once, so all of the timelines have occurred at basically the same time, and that, presumably, is why Immortus seems to have gone truly insane.
However, the big twist at the end of the first issue was that the Maker didn't immediately emerge from the Dome, ready to conquer his world. Instead, he has actually merged with the City underneath the Dome, and in the preview pages, Immortus explains how that process went down, with the Maker taking control of the whole City, and then making it so that a piece of him took control of nearly every resident in the City, as well.
Things look bleak for our heroes in this strange new environment, but to tell exactly HOW bad things are going to get, you'll haev to pick up a copy of Ultimate Endgame #2 when it comes out next week!
