The Fantastic Four: First Steps has just secured a major industry award nomination that it more than deserves to win.

Per Next Best Picture, The Fantastic Four: First Steps has officially secured a nomination for yet another major industry award. This time, the film was nominated for Best Production design for Kasra Farahani and Jille Azis, marking the fourth major nomination that The Fantastic Four: First Steps has secured since its release back in July.

Directed by Matt Shakman from a screenplay by Josh Friedman, Eric Pearson, Jeff Kaplan, and Ian Spring, The Fantastic Four: First Steps marked the Marvel Cinematic Universe debut of Marvel's First Family, or at least the version of them from the retrofuturistic world of Earth-828. The film stars Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn as Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Ben Grimm, and Johnny Storm, better known as Mister Fantastic, the Invisible Woman, the Thing, and the Human Torch, respectively.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps also stars Ralph Ineson as the Devourer of Worlds, Galactus, Julia Garner as his interstellar herald the Silver Surfer, formerly Shalla-Bal, and Paul Walter Hauser as Harvey Elder, better known as the Mole Man. The core cast of The Fantastic Four: First Steps is rounded out by Sarah Niles as Lynne Nichols, Mark Gatiss as Ted Gilbert, and Natasha Lyonne as Rachel Rozman.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps was a massive hit at the box office, bringing in nearly $522 million against a total budget of $229.6 million. Upon its release, The Fantastic Four: First Steps was met with rave reviews from critics and audiences alike, garnering an 86% "Certified Fresh" rating via review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, as averaged across more than 400 verified critical reviews of the film.

What's Next for The Fantastic Four in the MCU?

The eponymous heroes of The Fantastic Four: First Steps might reside in a separate corner of the Multiverse than the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but that won't be the cast for very long. Currently, fans are eagerly awaiting the return of Pascal, Kirby, Quinn, and Moss Bachrach in Avengers: Doomsday next year.

Set to arrive in theaters on Dec. 18, 2026, Avengers: Doomsday will stand as the biggest cinematic crossover event in the MCU to date. Alongside the stars of The Fantastic Four: First Steps and the expected MCU mainstays such as Letitia Wright's Shuri, Chris Hemsworth's Thor, and the stars of Thunderbolts*, the next Avengers film will bring back numerous X-Men stars including Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, James Marsden, and Patrick Stewart. To top things off, Avengers: Doomsday will mark original MCU star Robert Downey Jr.'s return to the franchise, this time in the role of Reed Richards' iconic comic book nemesis — Doctor Doom.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps is available for streaming now on Disney+.
