Watch: ‘The Super Mario Galaxy Movie’ Trailer Dropped & It Looks Fantastic

On November 12, 2025, Illumination and Universal Pictures released the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie and it looks fantastic.

Set to release on April 3, 2026, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is the sequel and will pick up after 2023’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Just with the first few seconds Universal and Illumination didn’t stray from the formula and we pick up with a seemingly reformed mini Bowser hilariously sharing his passion for art and Princess Peach with Mario and Luigi. From there we get a montage of the new colorful locales such as the Sand Kingdom, creatures like the Ninjis, and villains we’ll be seeing, especially the surprise reveal of a major antagonist, Bowser Jr., and the reveal of the new protagonist, Princess Rosalina from Mario Galaxy fame. 

There may be some rumblings with the casting choice in this movie. In the previous movie there were those who didn’t appreciate Chris Pratt as Mario, now there maybe rumblings about the choice of Brie Larson as Princess Rosalina. As for myself, as long as they do their jobs well we should be fine. Hopefully the studio will do it’s best to keep this production drama free as it does its marketing. 

As a fan of the first movie, this one looks like it’s going to be a just as great a time for both audiences young and old and I’m looking forward to this movie as a bright spot for movies in 2026.
