The young mutant Beautiful Dreamer was captured by Leper Queen, and she escapes in the middle of an anti-mutant rally–and dies.

Her powers have overtaken her, and in the explosion of her abilities, all the people at the rally “forget” to keep their hearts beating and die.
The X-Force investigate. It turns out that Leper Queen, working with the Sapien League, has been injecting mutants with the legacy virus to make their powers go haywire. She’s done it to Fever Pitch, who explodes in a ball of fire, burning off Wolverine’s skin and badly injuring Leper Queen–who nonetheless escapes.
X-Force storm the Sapien League base to find Boom Boom being held by a badly burned Leper Queen who points the legacy injection at her neck.

Not sure why she’s dressed so hot but, whatever. It’s Boom-Boom’s boom-booms.
Meanwhile, Beast invents the time-travel device that the team will use in the next “Messiah War” arc. On Cyclops’ command Vanisher teleports the team away before they can rescue Boom Boom–because, Scott says, they have to save the future of all mutantkind and it can’t wait for them to move three feet across the room and save Tabitha.
That’s ridiculous, Scott. You’re being a dick.

In response, Leper Queen murders Boom Boom. But I’m sure you’ve figured this out: The team now has a time-travel machine. They’ll save her later. After Messiah War.
